2008 Economic Teacher of the Year Award First Place Winner, John Spicer - Congratulations!

December 15th, 2008, the NCCEE and its partners announced the statewide winners in the Economic Educator of the Year Awards. Winners were announced during an Awards Reception held at the Office of the State Treasurer in Raleigh. Three North Carolina Educators were honored for their excellence and use innovative lessons/units covering economics. The ceremony was attended by the Honorable Elaine Marshall, Secretary of State; Jennifer Cohen, Chief of Staff for Department of the State Treasurer; Mr. Dan Gerlach of the Golden Leaf Foundation; Mr. Tom Landsittel, Vice President and Branch Manager of Scott & Stringfellow, Inc., a BB&T Corporation Affiliate; representatives from the Department of Public Instruction; members of the NCCEE Board of Directors, and guests. The Economic Educator of the Year awards were made possible by funding from the BB&T Charitable Foundation. In continuing with their community outreach, the foundation has committed its support for the 2008-2009 school year.
