A Chat with the State Treasurer, October 27, 2010

The Honorable Janet Cowell, State Treasurer of North Carolina, addressed a group of 85 business leaders in Charlotte at the International Trade Center.  Treasurer Cowell discussed Financial Literacy efforts throughout the state and the role of her department in the effort.  Treasurer Cowell emphasized the importance of financial education and its role in the overall health of the State’s economy.  Also attending were students from Charlotte Mecklenburg schools who provided insight into what is happening regarding personal finance in the schools.  Afterward, Treasurer Cowell met with a group of students from Myers Park High School to discuss a financial literacy project they are undertaking through their DECA program at the high school.  The NCCEE wishes to thank Bank of America, the presenting sponsor, as well as the gold and silver level sponsors of the event.
