Stephen Day, the new programs director, promptly got to work on a raft of new teacher opportunities. And with new materials at the Council’s disposal it’s looking like it will be a busy semester. Council staff is likely to find itself in a wide variety of places, especially as NCCEE seeks to expand its footprint. The newest member of the NCCEE, former Raleigh Charter High School teacher Stephen Day has been highly mobile, traversing central and eastern North Carolina delivering multiple NCCEE workshops. Stephen has presented such titles as “The Great Depression Curriculum,” “Middle School Geography—Focus on Econ,” “Virtual Economics 3.0,” “The Math Behind the Market,” and “Financial Fitness for Life.” He has presented to such diverse groups as the Exceptional Children’s conference and the NC Math Teacher’s Conference.
Keep an eye on the Council’s upcoming workshops! New funds have arrived for materials, demand from school systems for materials and training is high, and school professional development budgets are tight—it looks like Stephen is going to clock a lot more miles in the next few months.
