On May 24, 26, and 28, 2010 the NCCEE hosted its 24th annual regional awards banquets in Asheville, Greensboro, and Greenville.  More than 200 students were recognized for their efforts in statewide competitions promoting economic and financial literacy.  Additionally, Mr. Stephen Sorrell of Cove Creek Middle School in Vilas and Ms. Cindy Pridgen of John A. Holmes High School in Edenton were  recognized as a finalists for the BB&T Economic Educator of the Year award while Ms. Lisa Lamb of Holly Springs High School in Wake County was named the Economic Educator of the Year.   The keynote speakers included the Honorable Janet Cowell, State Treasurer of North Carolina, and the Honorable June Atkinson, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Dr. Matthew Martin, Sr. Executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Charlotte Branch.  The nearly 700 combined attendees included students, their parents, teachers and school administrators; leaders from academia and business; and many partner organizations including the Department of Public Instruction, NC REAL Enterprises, CCCS of Forsyth County, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Charlotte Branch, and many more.  Liaisons from the offices of Senator Kay Hagan and Senator Richard Burr delivered congratulatory messages to the students.  The events were presented by Fidelity Investments.
