Dr. Matthew Martin, Senior Vice President and Regional Executive of the Charlotte Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, spoke to more than 150 business professionals gathered at The Cardinal Club in support of the NCCEE. An economic recovery is on the way, though it might take longer than in the past. The recession is "almost over," Dr. Martin said, but it's still unclear how long the recovery will take. One crucial factor is consumer confidence and the spending that will follow, Martin said. Consumers' expectations are tied to what's going on in business, particularly regarding workers' wages and job losses. The event, benefiting the NCCEE is part of the annual fundraising events sponsored by the business community to aid in the NCCEE's effort to promote economic education and financial literacy among North Carolina's youth and educators. If you would like to sponsor and event or become involved with the NC Council for Economic Education email Sandy Wheat, Executive Director, or call us at 866-606-2233.
