The Stock Market Game™ (SMG) is a unique program designed to provide the most realistic, educational and reliable stock market simulation available to both teachers and students. It is a valuable and motivating tool in teaching the fundamentals of investing, as well as learning about how our overall economy works. (Trading Sessions)

The SMG is offered to all students and teachers in grades 4-12, as well as college students and adults -- for 10-week trading sessions during fall and spring semesters.  Additionally, a year-long game is available for those wishing to track their progress for longer than 10 weeks.

The primary purpose of the SMG is to provide an active, motivating device for teaching fundamental economic concepts.  The Game is inter-disciplinary and teaches and reinforces concepts and skills learned in mathematics, social studies, language arts, technology, business, and family and consumer sciences. Additionally, the SMG has a new Teacher Support Center which includes more than 25 lessons which are correlated to national and state standards in math, social studies, language arts, technology and business and are customizable to grade level. SMG benefits!

Student teams, consisting of 3 to 5 members each, will manage a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio -- investing in common and preferred stocks and mutual funds traded on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ exchanges, including Initial Public Offerings and Mutual Funds.

Students in grades 4-12 and college and teachers will compete for both regional and statewide honors in the following divisions: elementary, middle, high school, college, and teacher/adult divisions.  Awards will be given based on portfolio value at the end of the trading session.

Prizes will be awarded at regional awards banquets in May of each year.

All rankings will be updated daily and available 24 hours a day on the SMG web site.

All trades are placed on the internet and receive real-time pricing.
